Winter Carnival
Winter Carnival is a long standing Michigan Tech tradition that takes
place the first week in February. Carnival is a 4 day event starting
Wednesday night with the all nighter where people can finish up their
month long statues or compete in the one night statue build. Pictured
above and below is our month long statue the club built in 2005. There
is also different organizations selling food and beverages on campus
all night with dozens of activies taking place till the early morning
hours.
The rest of the days of Carnival are filled with different competitions
including broomball, ice fishing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, tug-o-war,
human dogsled, and curling just to name a few. The club
competes in the Student Organizations bracket of the games and has
historically placed most years.
Pictured below are pictures from one of our human dogsled competitions,
and yes that is an old chevy hood we use for our dogsled and towstraps
to pull it.

This is our crew for the ice fishing tournament on Portage Lake.

It has been a bit of a joke and tradition for our statues over the
years, whether they be month long or just one nighters to have a snow
toilet included somewhere.
