Fugly parked next to a house. so was fugly sold and this is who purchased it? also, since i am going to be living in marinette as of the 25th of this month, who else lives there (would be nice to know someone in the area).

yea, looked like at least the cab and box of fugly. not for sale, just sitting there. I am going to be a Manufacturing Engineer at Karl Schmidt Unisia, INC. Steph also got hired there as a Quality Engineer. Should be interesting!

I toured that place, I think. Are they the permanent mold aluminum foundry?

yea, KUS supplies pistons to Ford, GM, Cat, Nissan, Harley, and a few smaller companies. they have an in-house foundry where they do their own permanent mold casting of all of their aluminum pistons. the steel castings get shipped in from elsewhere and are machined there. i am a Manufacturing Engineer in the automotive division, Ford line. they put out around 20,000 pistons a day for ford alone. facility is 500,000+ sq ft. Really cool place to work at and tour, especially if you like large scale industrial machining and mold casting.

Yeah, don't forget the Big C! It really surprised me that the pistons for the 6.7L are mostly aluminum when I toured the place for my casting class.

yes, of course can't forget CumminGs. yup, almost all aluminum besides steel ring that wraps around the the top comp ring. I didn't know all the manufacturers went to aluminum. i thought they were all still running steel.

The rage now is hollow domes and local remelting with a TIG process. Most of the 9-15 liter stuff is aluinum too.

yup, lots of them are hollowed out domes. less weight. some have anodized crowns and top ring lands, and low friction skirt coatings.
