Propane tank requirements

Postby Yooperyota » Thu Jul 13, 2017 11:38 am

Thinking about picking up these two tanks for the propane conversion on my truck, does anyone know what kind of certification/valves I need to make sure these have so that someone will be able to legally fill them? Do they look up to date? What questions do I need to ask the guy?

Thanks

Call keweenaw petroleum service. I don't think I paid that much for the same size (43 lb) used from them for the forklift at work and they are in atlantic mine.

You can get them filled anywhere that sells propane. The only part I've struggled with is they always charge a "per pound" price instead of by the gallon so it's quite a bit more money. Something like $.50 per pound vs $1 a gallon when filling a home heating tank. You can't explain density to the kind of people that sell propane.

I'll have to get ahold of them and see about those used tanks. I know I called them before to ask about filling and they said they can charge by the gallon if it's "alternative fuel" for road use. You have to pay a road tax, but it's still cheaper than by the lb.

Just go by and ask them, there is a pile of forklift tanks over by the filling station.
