What I've been told is that they just make it get up to the red-line faster/peak power for those motors. The compressed air actually passes through on one stroke because of the exhaust being open, but this is where a good tuned pipe comes into play so it can scavange it back. But the point is, how cool is that? _________________ Hold my Beer...Watch This!! |

And this is a $150 solution to a non-issue. Ever notice anything funny about the intake port timing compared to the stroke of a crankcase inducted engine such as this? The piston on the downstroke compresses the intake charge inside the crankcase. Good transfer ports are designed to use heat stored in the walls of the combustion chamber to maintain charge pressure until the transfer port is fully open. The ability to maintain this boost is totally depenedent on expansion chamber design.
To actaully make good on one of these, you would need a mechanical valve on the exhaust. Simply not enough volume to use helmholz resonation to create counter pressure on the exhaust port. |
