Whats every one do for winter? Im thinking about getting a set of winterforces. But have never had snow tires, are they worth the coin?

I personally don't like winterforces. We put bridgestone blizzack dmz3 snow tires on the jeep, and it's like day and night. We got them for around $90 a tire from tirerack.com last year.

Blizzacks are very nice tires in the snow/ice. I run winterforces on my plow truck, and have never been stuck with it in the three winters I've used it with the winterforces. I like em, But I'm cheap too.

I have Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires, they're kinda expensive , but they're really good. My brother and his wife have similar Subarus, and his car has Hakkapeliittas, but her car doesn't, and it's obvious. It's nothing like driving on dry pavement, but you still get noticeably more traction and less fishtailing.

What are you putting the snow tires on?

I have ran both Nokian WRs and Blizzaks on my accord.

The WRs are a direction tire, and the first tire at the time to have a 50k mile rating. It did better than an all season in the snow, it did very well in slush due to the directional pattern. I think the pattern has changed since I bought my last set.

The blizzaks do better with snow traction, last year i ran blizzaks on the front, and WRs on the rear. The blizzaks could hold corners the WRs couldnt, and would allow the car to get sideways, which was unexpected at first.

anything is going to be better than an all season or mud tire.

Cooper Discoverer M+S are the best snow tire I've had. Granted I haven't run a lot of different types, but for a load range E they do great plowing, especially off-pavement, and are reasonably quiet. Kind of spendy though, $180 apiece for a 265/75/16.

There going on the white truck, just want somthing not bald for commuting. Winter forces seem to bee the cheapest, 390 mounted for 265/75-16. Im trying to get a price from the tire shop for 235/85-16 coopers, they seemed to have some real nice tread.

Winterforces seem to have more edges than some other tires and the ones I run on my LTD in the winter are flat out amazing in my eyes. They do however sing a touch of a tune at high speed vs a summer road tire but nothing serious at all.
I'd recomend them.

Go with the Winterforce tires, it is a night and day difference in the snow compared to both BFG All Terrains and the Cooper Discoverer M+S.

Hoosier Drag slicks

They actually do suprisingly well.....

But seriously, winterforce tires are good if you can get them cheap. Had a set on a 2wd Dakota on the rear and your average joe tires on the front. The front pushed everywhere (possibly because it only had front brakes) while the rear tires seemed more stable.

Auto Pro Tire behind McDonald's has some nice snow tires in E range too. We put them on the plow trucks at facilities and were cheaper than Winterforce and they run them year round.
Another one (although a bit spendy) is the Goodyear Wranger Silent Armor. One of the highest rated tires for snow. And 50,000 mile tread life. http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyeartireselector/display_tire.jsp?prodline=Wrangler+SilentArmor&mrktarea=LightTruck#technology
Plus when my dad bought his set they included free roadside flat/spare changing and free tugs if you got stuck. I'm pretty sure it was all roadside so they wouldn't come for free if you're in the bush.
